Cat’s Cup takes over Downtown Moncton on September
15th!
This year’s Downtown Road Hockey Challenge and the
Wildcats season launch will take place
on Saturday, September 15th in Downtown Moncton. From Lutz to
Church Streets, Main Street will be invaded by aspiring NHLers from
the ages of 5 to 10 for a fun half-day tournament
and a chance to meet, and receive some coaching tips from members
of the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats. The Cat’s Cup will run
from 9 a.m. to noon on Main Street, which will be transformed into
six temporary rinks, allowing 72 kids to participate in three
different age categories. Participant registration starts at 8 a.m.
at the Moncton Market. An official puck-drop will kick off the
championship games just before noon with special guests on hand.
Children can get a copy of the ballot for a draw to play in the
Cat’s Cup at www.moncton-wildcats.com, in the Times
&Transcript or in L’Étoile. The ballots can be
mailed, dropped off in person at Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc.
at 910, Main Street,
Suite 103, Moncton NB, E1C 1G6 or faxed in at (506) 857-2908. The
contest runs from
September 1st to September 12th, 2007. The winning participants
will be announced on
Thursday, September 13th in the sports section of the Times &
Transcript and on the
Moncton Wildcats website.

Welcome to Greater Moncton's first annual
motorcycle festival!
ATLANTICADE is the result of several local motorcyclists who
have long wanted to host a showcase event for motorcycle owners and
enthusiasts. This Festival will provide bikers the opportunity to
do the two things they enjoy the most…ride their bike, and
show it off to others. ATLANTICADE welcomes all makes and
models to gather in Greater Moncton for a five day festival where
you will find special guests, exciting events, world class
competitions and a vendor show for motorcycle accessories and
industry related products. ATLANTICADE promises to become
Atlantic Canada’s premier annual motorcycle rally. Our
diversity of activities will appeal to a broad local and tourist
demographic, events will include a Bike Parade, Show and Shine
competition, Regional Biking tours, Tattoo Art, Downtown Street
Party, Skills Workshops, Entertainment and Endurance Riding to name
a few. ATLANTICADE is a non-profit event with a goal of
raising awareness about Motorcycling, and also with a challenge to
raise funds for Charity. This year event proceeds will go to
support the Children’s Wish Foundation.
Homeless Hotel set for June 1st at Riverfront
Park
This year, the Homeless Hotel will take place at the Riverfront
Park in Downtown Moncton on Friday, June 1st for a 12-hour period.
From 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., the riverfront will be transformed into a
mock hotel with teams camping out in their tents. The goal of the
event is to raise awareness and funds for the less fortunate.
Rogers Television’s Song Writer’s Circle will
broadcast live with an impressive line-up of entertainers. C103/
XL96 will also broadcast live during the evening. Homeless
Hotel is a joint partnership between Moncton Youth
Residences & the YMCA of Greater Moncton.To register

The Frye Festival wants to feed your
imagination!
The Frye Festival, which takes place in Moncton this year from
April 26th to April 30th 2007, promotes the pleasure and discovery
of reading by bringing together authors, storytellers, poets and
playwrights from around the world. Each year in April, Festival
audiences hear these writers at debates, readings, workshops and
dialogues in schools, cafes, restaurants, bars, theatres, and

Welcome to the 2007 Cavendish University Cup!
Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. welcomes all participating
teams and their fans from all across the Canada who have made the
trip to Moncton for the 2007 Cavendish University Cup.

In all six teams from across Canada will meet in Moncton. Teams
participating in this year’s Men’s CIS Hockey
Championship at the Moncton Coliseum are; The University of
Saskatchewan Huskies, The Wilfred Laurier University Golden Hawks
from Waterloo, Les Patriotes de l’Université du
Québec à Trois-Rivières, The St. Francis
Xavier University X-Men, The University of NB Varsity Reds and Les
Aigles Bleus de l’Université de Moncton.
Cavendish University Cup
The Université de Moncton has announced that Cavendish
Farms will be the major sponsor for Canadian Interuniversity Sport
Men's Ice Hockey Championship which will take place March 22-25 at
the Moncton Coliseum and again in 2008.
With a $80,000 contribution - $40,000 for each year - Cavendish
Farm will be designated Platinum partner of the 2007 and 2008
University Cup.
"I am confident that this national championship will be a complete
success thanks to the support from generous partners such as
Cavendish Farms as well as the collaboration and support of
numerous volunteers and fans," said U de M president Yvon
Fontaine.
The organizing committee has also unveiled the logo for the
event.

Comedians at 007 Hubcap Comedy Festival
The Hubcap Comedy Festival unveiled its line-up for the 007
edition that will be held in Moncton from February 7th to
11th, 2007.
Among the comedians expected to surface in Metro Moncton are Elvira
Kurt of the Comedy Network's show Popcultured. Also, John Dunsworth
and alias Mr. Lahey and Randy of the Trailer Park Boys.
The English performers are Big Daddy Tazz, Evan Carter, Debra
DiGiovanni, Mark Forward, Jonny Harris, Dylan Mandlsohn, Dan Quinn,
Frank Spadone, Kristeen Von Hagen, Marc Sauve, Fraser Young, Adam
Bayne, and Kevin Robart. Performing in French will be Alexandre
Barrette, Charlypop and Billy Tellier. As well, La Revue Acadienne
will perform and there will be 2007 editions of two festival
traditions, the Improv Games and the Open-Mic stand-up comedy

Music Day all day Wednesday, June 21st. Starting with a summer
solstice celebration with the rising sun (5 a.m.) at Riverfront
Park, the day will be filled with non-stop music and amazing
talent. Official musical sites include Moncton City Hall
with an official noon-time launch, the Blue Cross Centre and
the Moncton Market from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., followed by
Robinson Court concerts from 3:30 to 7 p.m., then into the
Empress Theatre from 7-9 p.m., closing at the Aberdeen
Cultural Centre with performances from 9:30 — 11 p.m. The
program’s music ranges from classical, to mass choirs,
percussions, pop, rock and rap. There’s something for

It’s that time
of the year again when DCMI looks back at the year that was and
forward to the year ahead. And this is one AGM you won’t want
to miss. Ted Nolan, the new Head Coach and Director of
Hockey Operations for the Moncton Wildcats will make his
first public engagement as the guest speaker during DMCI’s
luncheon. The upcoming 2005-2006 hockey season promises to be an
exciting one for our QMJHL team, especially with Moncton hosting
the 2006 Memorial Cup. DMCI’s AGM will also provide the
perfect opportunity for you to hear more about all the exciting
development, festivals and events to come in our downtown.
General Manager Daniel Allain will present DMCI’s
strategic plan and outgoing president Brian Baxter will give
us an overview of the great accomplishments our downtown has seen
in the last year. The meeting gets underway at noon at the Delta
